CadetNet is the official communications network for the Canadian Cadet Organizations (CCO). CadetNet enables the exchange of information through the following mediums:
- E-Mail
- News
- Conferences
- Forums
- Online Chat
- Directories
CadetNet can be accessed by either downloading the FirstClass Client software or by a web session login. Computers accessing CadetNet are not required to be official CCO provided computers.

How do I download FirstClass Client software?
- To download the English Canadian 9.106 FirstClass Client for Windows click here.
- Double-click the file and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
- Once the installation is complete click here to add the CadetNet settings to the FirstClass client.
- When the Login screen appears enter your user ID and password and click Login.
What are the requirements of my computer to download the FirstClass client?
- Your computer must be using a Windows operating system.
- You must have the ability to install software on your computer.
This is normally an issue for work computers. DND or the CCO will not lobby an employer to have the FirstClass® client or any other type of software to be installed.
- Port 510 on your local network must be open.
The FirstClass client utilizes port 510 to communicate with the server. Port 510 may be closed by a firewall or restricted.

The following requirements are a suggested minimum configuration.

Intel Pentium 3 class CPU or better, or equivalent AMD CPU
32 MB available RAM

Troubleshooting
If you are experiencing difficulties logging into CadetNet through the FirstClass client it may be one of the following issues:
- The User ID and Password are not correct. Please ensure you have the correct User ID/Password to login to CadetNet. The following error message appears when an incorrect UserID or Password is provided:
- To reset your account information please contact your service desk for assistance. The service desk contact information can be located by selecting your region at http://www.cadets.ca/cconet
- The settings are configured incorrectly. Please ensure the address for the server has been specified as cadets.gc.ca
- If the address in the server field does not have cadets.gc.ca please select the "Setup…" button
- Enter cadets.gc.ca into the server field
- Select the "Save" button
- Enter User ID and Password and select the green arrow "Enter" button


You have security software that is preventing you from connecting to CadetNet. This may be the case if an antivirus has been installed. FirstClass connects to CadetNet using Port 510, this must be open on your computer.
- Edit the properties of the antivirus that is currently active on your computer and ensure the "Fcc.exe" or "FirstClass" application has no limitations.
