The 2012 National Cadet Biathlon Championship wound down on Friday in a rousing celebration of athleticism and sportsmanship as Cadets and officials from all over Canada closed the event with a distinctly Maritime flair.

Rear-Admiral David Gardam, Commander Maritime Forces Atlantic, was the reviewing officer and guest speaker for the event, which included entertainment by the Valley Scottish Country Dancers, the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Atlantic) Pipe and Drum band, and the Nova Scotia Detachment Ceremonial Band. The Cadets were presented with a number of prestigious awards, such as the Myriam Bédard Award and the Biathlon Canada Award for Sports Etiquette, which this year went to Team Manitoba.

The ceremony, attended by a large crowd of Cadets, staff, parents and guests ended with the passing of the Ceremonial Flag, which will be flown next year in Valcartiér, Que., for the 2013 Championship. Lloyd Smith, Town Crier for the Annapolis Valley, announced the games a great success and proclaimed them to be officially closed.
